Recycle waste tires to eliminate mosquito breeding habitat.

Waste tires collect rainwater and can become habitat for several types of mosquitoes including species that can transmit diseases like La Crosse encephalitis or West Nile virus. In order to reduce disease risk, the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District has enacted a waste tire recycling program to help eliminate a potential breeding source and fulfill our mission of protecting public health. Changes to MMCD Tire Program for 2026:

MMCD will not pick up tires at residences in 2026. Instead, MMCD will be hosting two tire drop-off days in each county. See below for details:

In the year 2026, MMCD will host tire drop-off events around the Metropolitan area, wherein all residents will be eligible to participate. This diverges from MMCD’s previous approach, in which residents were able to request a tire pick-up at their place of residence. After extensive discussion between field and administrative staff, MMCD has determined that transitioning to a drop off-based program will allow greater efficiency in MMCD’s mosquito control and public health efforts.

How to Participate in MMCD Tire Drop-Off Events:

1. Ensure you meet the 2026 eligibility requirements (see below).
2. Choose a date from the list below that matches your county.
3. Click on the Spring Booking Link for your county.
4. Once you schedule your appointment, you will receive an e-mail confirmation with the location of the drop-off.

NOTE: The drop-off event may not be occurring at an MMCD facility. Please refer to your e-mail confirmation for the exact location.
