Motion to Adjourn

 

Workshop monthly meeting was called to order by Chairperson Nytes at 5 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

 

Chairperson John Wermerskirchen, Supervisor Edward Nytes, Supervisor DeAnn Croatt, Deputy Treasurer Patricia Peterson, Deputy Clerk Kimberly Carlberg, Road Overseer Jeff Haag. Not present: Treasurer Nathan Hutton and Clerk Heather Taylor DuCharme.

 

 

The Schoenbauer’s attended the meeting to request a rezone with the Board to build a home on 5.33 acres of the family farm. A Township Recommendation Form was completed and signed by the Board.  On motion by Nytes/Wermerskirchen the motion was approved; carried unanimously. The signed copy was sent to the Schoenbauer email given on 4/23/2026.

 

A discussion was also had around having a carbon copy of the Township Recommendation Form to hand to residents at time of meeting.

 

Haag presented the following items/report as well as sharing from Supervisors:

1.       Reminded the Board of the upcoming Road Viewing taking place on Monday, 4/27/2026.  Shared that he will be bringing the 5-year plan, the history of graveling, as well as the recommendations from Tom Johnson.

a.       Called out to house on 255th & Hwy 21 regarding ditch and culverts that don’t seem proper from homeowner standpoint.

b.       Haag recommended discussing during Road viewing.

2.       Shared the Agreement for Participation in Bituminous Seal Coating for the Board to sign.  There was a motion to approve the spending of $19,211.51. A roll call was held and Wermerskirchen, Nytes and Croatt all voted Yes.  The signed document was emailed to Scott County on 4/23/2026.

3.       SWCD shared in Feb email that due to the success of spraying over the last few years, no weed control spraying will be taking place this year. There is also no budget or grant money this year for Scott County.

4.       Supervisors shared updates from Spring Meeting of the Scott County Township Association on 4/21/2026 regarding trimming trees in the right of way as well as trimming around signs.

a.       Haag will also be bringing the Tree Waiver Removal Form to the Regular meeting in May

Discussion was had regarding Fall Road Viewing and viewing signs for Reflectivity.

Supervisors presented the following items/reports.

1.       Croatt shared there was an email from a resident from Silver Maple Bay with concerns regarding a neighbor with bees. The Clerk provided good email response/information and Croatt found some additional information to share with the Clerk and will be forwarding it onto them.

2.       The Board discussed the Special Assessment for Silver Maple Bay that resident Gary Jaeger came to the Regular meeting in April to address. Outcome:  request that Clerk Taylor DuCharme write a letter apologizing for not being more specific as to when the interest payments would start.  In the future, the Board will be more specific.

3.       Wermerskirchen will speak to Steve Rynda regarding the plan to water the newly planted trees.  Also asked if Rynda and team would throw down grass seed at the site as well.

4.       The Board, all 3 Supervisors, attended the 2050 Comp Plan Meeting with Scott County with Belle Plaine, Blakely and Helena townships.  The next meeting will be in the fall of 2026.

5.       Wermerskirchen provided an update on the Jordan Fire Contract status.  He will be contacting the Chairman of Sand Creek Township requesting their Clerk reach out to the Clerks of everyone that attended the March 26,2026 meeting to ensure everyone is kept up to date on the plan.

6.       Croatt shared that Scott County Association Meetings will always be held on the 3rd Wednesday of March and the 2nd Wednesday of September moving forward.

7.       Wermerskirchen shared that on August 5th, 2026 there is a Township Meeting being held at Spring Lake Town Hall.  All of our team is invited.

8.       The Board recommended being very specific with the Clerk moving forward when requesting gravel, grading and snow removal quotes.

9.       The Board will discuss the upcoming road projects that will start in the fall that include Hunters Ridge and Silver Maple Drive at the May Regular meeting.
