Regular monthly meeting was called to order by Chairperson Wermerskirchen at 5 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Chairperson John Wermerskirchen, Supervisor Edward Nytes, Supervisor DeAnn Croatt, Road Overseer Jeff Haag, Treasurer Nathan Hutton, Deputy Treasurer Patricia Peterson, Clerk Heather Taylor DuCharme, and Deputy Clerk Kimberly Carlberg.
Review of Clerk’s revised Receipts/Orders/Summary Annual Audit Report and Treasurer’s revised Annual Audit Report. Original reports were off $1.00, which was determined to be an entry error for an interest deposit in December. On motion by Croatt/Nytes, corrected reports/summaries approved as presented and signed; carried unanimously.
Hutton presented the following items. 1. City of Jordan cashed the fire contract payment mailed in December. 2. Still working on sorting out PERA issue for Haag. 3. All year end reporting is completed.
Haag presented the following items for discussion. 1. Weed control payment for 2025 was higher than previous (2025 over $5,000; 2024 approximately $3,200; 2023 approximately $2,400). Meghan Darley advised Haag that provider oversprayed all broadleaf instead of what they were supposed to spray. Darley dealt with vendor and got a 30% discount for 2026 to make up for overspray. Darley also told Haag that based on the weed status and spraying for the past three years that the Township may not need weed spraying in 2026. 2. Trees at Raven Stream Park have been cut down and only the stumps remain. Vendor advised Haag they will remove stumps when ground refreezes from current thaw. The rest of the tree trimming in the Raven Stream neighborhood should be done this week. Haag will talk to tree removal and replacement vendors about necessary clean up as necessary. 3. Joe Wiita sent an email regarding planning crack filling and seal coating projects for 2026. Haag drove the roads and called Andrew Vistad to determine 2026 project needs and presented Supervisors with proposed recommendations, which they reviewed. On motion by Croatt/Nytes, crack filling and seal coating proposed by Haag (and Vistad) approved; carried unanimously. 4. Haag and Tom Johnson have made several calls and left messages for the resident whose mailbox was damaged last month but haven’t received any return calls. Johnson is willing to repair the mailbox but can’t do so unless the resident contacts them back. Johnson left a temporary mailbox at the driveway. Taylor DuCharme to send letter to resident that mailbox will be picked up by Johnson on 3/5/2026 and request they call Johnson or Haag. Additional discussion of mailbox policy and costs. 5. Hutton advised Haag there is a small chest freezer that was dumped on the side of the road on Koeper that the plows pushed into the ditch. 6. Haag talked to Doug Johnson about grading new ruts on Koeper.
Supervisors presented the following items for discussion. 1. Discussion of plow contracts and guarantees. 2. Wermerskirchen discussion of preparation for annual meeting (Haag report, website review by Carlberg, other preparation). 3. Croatt prepared a letter to send to Jordan Fire Relief Association requesting a donation from pull tabs to offset the cost of the tree removal/replacement at Raven Stream Park. Board approved and all signed. Croatt will mail. 4. Croatt provided update from Meyers rezoning meeting at Scott County. The administrative subdivision will be on the consent agenda. 5. Nytes provided a New Prague Rural Fire Association update, including regarding the building payoff, planned truck purchase, and new treasurer. Supervisors discussed asking New Prague Fire availability of pull tab donations for Raven Stream Park (trees and possibly equipment). Wermerskirchen will talk to Rynda. 6.
